Illustration: "Spirit of America"
Lindt Chocolate Design Competition
Lindt Chocolates held a "Spirit of America" design competition to design a box cover and the stamp for the chocolate squares within. I was a national semi-finalist out of thousands of entries.
As for the "spirit" of America, liberty is at its core essence. It was the desire for personal freedom to live their lives without government or imperial intervention that inspired the U.S. forefathers to demand independence.
As part of my design, I illustrated the visage of Liberty in a combination of scratchboard and pen & ink. For the chocolate stamp template, I designed an icon of 13 stripes surrounded by 13 stars, making reference to the original sovereign states.
